Your Retreat Home

Your Retreat Home: Koofan Heritage Lodge

Taqah

Nestled in the historic heart of Taqah — beside its ancient fortress and the Sheikh Al-Afif Mosque — this family home is one of the oldest and most beautiful traditional houses in the Dhofar region, with over 150 years of history.

Once the residence of Salim Koofan, a merchant whose honesty and generosity shaped a lasting legacy, its walls have sheltered families, hosted traders, and echoed with the stories of a living community.

Today, it opens its doors as both a heritage museum and an intimate guesthouse — not a hotel, but an authentic Omani experience where the past is warmly present.

Unique Rooms

Individually designed across three levels, each room carries its own story and historical character.

Authentic Heritage Design

Hand-carved wooden doors, high ceilings, and clay and stone construction using local Mitan and Sagout woods.

Limited Intimate Spaces

A small group experience — rooms allocated on a first-booked basis.

Each corner of the Koofan Heritage Lodge tells a story, blending authentic Omani heritage with comfort and tranquility.

Day 4 — Integration, Lunch & Departure

A gentle morning of reflection, closing circle and breakfast before heading home. Lunch included for guests with afternoon flights.

Every route is thoughtfully designed by a local guide with deep knowledge of Dhofar — ensuring you experience both sides of Salalah's landscape, from lush eastern wadis to dramatic western coastlines, with the hidden gems only locals know.

Day 1

Arrival, Local Market & Opening Circle

Your first day is designed to ease you in gently — no rush, no agenda, just an invitation to arrive fully and begin.

Settle Into the Lodge

Arrive at your home for the next four days. Unpack, breathe, and let the landscape of Salalah welcome you. Time to rest, walk the grounds, and simply land.

Explore Al Hafa Souq

Wander through one of Oman's most atmospheric local markets. Discover frankincense resins, Dhofari honey, handwoven textiles and the warmth of local traders. A sensory introduction to the soul of Salalah.

Opening Circle & Sound Healing

As evening falls, the group gathers for an intentional opening circle — a space to set intentions, connect with your fellow travellers, and be held in the resonance of live sound healing.

Local Dinner Together

Share a nourishing traditional Omani dinner as a group — a first taste of the flavours, warmth and community that will carry you through the retreat.

Day 2

Eastern Tour: Wadi Darbat, Green Valleys & Mountain Views

Morning Yoga, Meditation & Sound Healing

Start the day gently before we head east.

Wadi Darbat

Salalah's most loved green valley — lake, lush trees, seasonal waterfalls and a boat or kayaking experience.

Tawi Atayr Sinkhole

A dramatic natural sinkhole more than 100 metres deep — one of nature's most awe-inspiring formations.

Jabal Samhan

A breathtaking mountain viewpoint rising above 2,000 metres, with sweeping views over the Dhofar landscape.

Ancient Baobab Trees & Anti-Gravity Site

A beautiful final stop near Taqah before returning to the lodge. Lunch is an outdoor cooking experience in nature, followed by an authentic local dinner.

Day 3

Western Tour: Mughsail, Hidden Beach & Traditional Koofan Dinner

Morning Yoga, Meditation & Sound Healing

Start the day gently before we head west.

Khor Al Mughsail & Al Mughsail Beach

One of the most beautiful natural beaches in West Salalah. Lunch is an outdoor cooking experience in nature.

Back at the lodge, a cultural evening of traditional dishes, wood-fire preparation, local stories and the history of Dhofar. A final night of nourishment, gratitude and sisterhood.

Day 4

Integration & Departure

Our final morning is gentle and spacious — a time for breakfast, quiet reflection, and integration before we say our goodbyes. This is the soft landing after a full and meaningful journey together.
